Just as the verses about remind us that we are all wonderfully made, we can be assured that God has made each child exactly as they were supposed to be made. And each child has a different means of education that will be the best for them. Chapelgate Church is supportive of all types of schooling: public, parochial, private or home schooling. In order to help our home schooling families we have CHEP - Chapelgate Home Education Program.
CHEP is an educational ministry of Chapelgate Church and an approved home school oversight umbrella for the Maryland State Department of Education.
The purposes of CHEP are:
-To encourage and equip parents in their role as able teachers of their own children.
For families using CHEP’s Legal Umbrella:
-To guarantee that each home-educated child under its care receives an education in accordance with Maryland law.
-To ensure that adequate documentation exists for the instructional program of each child in event of legal inquiry by county government officials.
**Please note - legal oversight is provided to Chapelgate Members only. If you would like to become a member of Chapelgate check out our Inquirer's Class.**
It is the greatest desire of the CHEP Oversight Team to provide members with adequate guidance and legal coverage, without encroachment into family privacy and choices.
CHEP Activities
For non-members, feel free to join us as a CHEP Activities Member. You will be kept informed of the many resources and activities available each month. You will also receive membership to The Maryland Association of Christian Home Educators (MACHE)
CHEP Activities include (some require additional costs):
- Monthly Support/Equipping Meetings
- Monthly Enrichment Days
- Monthly Field Trips
- Fall/Spring Co-op Classes
- Book-It Program
- Theaterworks/BSO discount tickets
- Homeschool Resource Library
- Social Activities
- Field Day/Picnic
- Closing Program/Graduations
- Standardized Testing
You do not need to be under CHEP’s legal umbrella to participate in the activities.
