VBS Summer 2024!
The world around us is filled with wonderful, exciting things that are blessings from God. However, the tide of cultural influence often echoes Satan’s distorted truth, “Did God really say ... ?” The waves of change are small at first and wash over us effortlessly. They beckon us to jump in and swim before we can spot them for what they often are—half-truths or outright lies that can pull us under quickly. But unlike the shifting sands of culture, God’s truth never changes. It stands strong like a towering rock—a beacon calling us to hold tight to it so we aren’t tossed about by every new crashing wave.
At Breaker Rock Beach VBS, kids will learn to recognize the difference between what the world says is true and what God says is true. They’ll encounter five everyday sayings that sound right, but dangerously miss the truth found in God’s Word. Each day kids will be challenged to know that God’s truth never changes—even when it’s radically different from what some people say. They’ll discover that God does not want them to be conformed to this age, but to be transformed by the renewing of their minds so that they can discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God (Romans 12:2).

Wholeheartedness
Often feeling like we're being pulled in so many different directions, there is a low level exhaustion we feel, compounded by the simmering shame of not doing and being enough. But God invites us to wholeheartedness - the experience of oneness and worthiness in Christ which offers our soul's longed-for rest.
Dr. Chuck DeGroat served as a pastor in Orlando and San Francisco where he started two church-based counseling centers, and now serves as Professor of Pastoral Care and Executive Director of the clinical counseling program at Western Theological Seminary, Michigan. He is the author of five books, with his next book Healing What's Within being released in October.
This is the annual Gospel in Context seminar co-hosted by MBS and LCCM.
