The Cross

I looked at the cross - dark, massive, towering to the sky - the center of the world.

It was ugly - awful - my heart shrank in terror.

I could see the pain - the heaviness of spirit - the soul about to be crushed.

I didn’t want to see - but my eyes could not leave.

For joy - the joy of the love mingled with the suffering.

The love - the love that bore the wrath of the Almighty and Holy God.

Jesus - the Holy One of Israel, the Only Begotten Lamb of God, became my sin and died.

“Lovingkindness and truth have met together. Righteousness and peace have kissed each other.” Ps 85:10
