Ash Wednesday

Matthew 11:28-30 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

My mother died a rather gruesome death in August 2024, and around the same time I was diagnosed with neuropathy that causes significant pain and disability.

Oh, God. This season of suffering has brought such a deep, dark weariness to my soul. And yet you welcome me to your side with the promise of rest, restoration and the opportunity to know you better. What comfort and encouragement these words have been for me when I barely have the energy to breathe. Thank you for the power of your word in my life. Amen.
