Day 10
Matthew 6:19-24
“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Where is my heart? This is always the question that the gospel drives me to, and the answer is always found with where my ‘treasure’ is: my priorities, use of time, and the talents and resources God has given to me. Our treasure will always determine how we live, because essentially (Jesus teaches), to choose a treasure is to choose that which will rule our hearts.
Among the initiatives Chapelgate has undertaken through the years is our English as a Second Language Ministry (ESL) program. God has used this exponentially in the life of our community, even our world. To this day, we are in contact with people who met Jesus through this ESL ministry, and who now serve him in other countries! This is the testimony of a church that keeps the First Thing first, and the secondary things (even money) second.
Without thinking for too long, what would you say is your treasure, and in what ways do you resist allowing it to rule your heart?
One Takeaway:
Your Prayer:
Father,
You are my treasure - the one I desire above all, and the only one worth serving. You know that my heart is easily divided. Sometimes I put my treasure in consuming the goods and experiences of this life...and my heart quickly follows.
Thank you for Jesus, who loved you with all his heart, and gave up everything, including his life, so that we could be your treasured possession.
Today, I choose for you to rule my heart, and to use all that I treasure for your service. In Jesus’ Name,
Amen.
