Day 7

Luke 19:1-10

“Today salvation has come to this house...”

Zacchaeus was a tax collector and therefore both rich and despised by fellow Jews who resented that he collected taxes for Rome. Tax collectors in that day were doubly hated because they were known for overcharging in order to stuff their own pockets. But when Zacchaeus met Jesus, everything changed. Not only did he agree to have a party in his home for Jesus, but with a changed heart, he agreed to help the poor and to repay those he had defrauded, fourfold! Meeting Jesus changed his priorities!

The most exciting thing we get to see at Chapelgate is when people come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior! At baptisms, in videos, and by other means, we get to hear stories of how lives were turned around when people encountered Jesus. At the end of the day, this is what this Sanctuary project is all about! In fact, the campaign is entitled, That All May Know. This is our heart.

When did you meet Jesus in faith, and how did he change your life when you did?

One Takeaway:

Prayer:
Jesus,

Today I come to you - the one who welcomes sinners and eats with them.

I confess my own wanderings today; please bring me back to you. (Pause for confession)

Please pursue ____ today with your love, that salvation may come to their house. (Name friends and family who do not know Jesus)

Let us together find joy in you, that all may know your life-changing love. In Jesus’ Name,

Amen.
